Job description:

Exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to join the Department of Health!

The Team:

The Burnie Adult Community Mental Health Service (BACMHS NW) is a case management service that provides expert mental health care including assertive case management, triage, holistic physical and mental health assessment, clinical risk management and crisis intervention within the community setting

The Role:

  • Provide specialist care to consumers and their families within their designated region identified as at risk of or having moderate to severe mental health disorders, as part of a multidisciplinary mental health team.
  • Provide specialist mental health assessment and clinical management to consumers of Adult Mental Health Services to promote positive mental health outcomes and hospital avoidance.
  • Work in accordance with shared care principles and within a multidisciplinary treatment team to assist consumers to access services and enhance their engagement with internal and external agencies.
  • Take a lead role in the development and implementation of system changes and service improvements in Adult Mental Health Services. 
  • Be responsible as a leader, advisor and mentor for other nurses and clinicians to ensure high level clinical excellence within Adult Mental Health Services.
  •  As a senior clinician, contribute to building collaborative working relationship and positive team culture across all services in AMHS, including community services and inpatient units.

You will need:

  1. Well-developed and strong clinical leadership skills, including the ability to collaborate, educate/guide within interprofessional teams, as well as consult, refer, liaise, and negotiate complex professional, clinical & health systems issues.
  2. Demonstrated high level interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, and a proven ability to educate, and be influential and credible to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including consumers and health professionals, such as Staff Specialists, General Practitioners, nursing, and allied health staff.
  3. Demonstrated experience to undertake and utilise research to develop, contribute, and apply quality improvement principles and strategies to develop programs and interventions that will enhance the service delivery model of Adult Mental Health Services, and contribute to improved outcomes for consumers and their carers.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 53.2 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $144,146 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and endorsed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner.

  • Completed a specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital-based program that leads to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom.

  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration

  • Current Driver’s Licence
