The Team - Health Workforce Planning Unit:
- Leads multidisciplinary workforce planning to support a sustainable health system.
- Collaborates across sectors to align workforce strategies with service and training needs.
- Strengthens workforce data and policy to guide responsive, evidence-based planning.
The role:
- Leads the development and implementation of strategic health workforce policy and planning, ensuring alignment with the Health Workforce 2040 (HW2040) Strategy and broader system objectives.
- Provides high-level specialist advice and authoritative decisions on workforce strategy issues at both State and National levels, including translating national reforms into Tasmanian practice.
- Represents Tasmania in national forums, advising on workforce needs and developing innovative strategies to address barriers and opportunities across the health system.

You will need:
- Demonstrated high level knowledge and understanding of the health and human services sector, and the political, social and organisational environment together with extensive knowledge of contemporary national and state workforce issues, trends and workforce change management.
- Demonstrated specialist knowledge and extensive experience in leading and managing workforce strategy, policy and long term planning in a large and complex organisation.
- Proven capacity to operate with a significant degree of autonomy in a complex specialised environment with high levels of adaptability and flexibility and proven high-level capacity to deal effectively with competing priorities, pressure, ambiguity, and change.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $170,409 to $188,400 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. human resources, health management, law, corporate governance, management) and/or extensive experience in the management and delivery of workforce strategy and planning preferably in a health setting.
