Located within Public Health Services, the role entails providing high-level policy analysis, strategic advice, project management, leadership and direction, in the planning, development, implementation, management and delivery of key strategic policy, programs and initiatives related to suicide prevention, with a particular focus on implementation of the Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Strategy.

The advertised role supports the delivery suicide prevention services that are strongly consumer and carer focused, high quality, sustainable, accessible, inclusive, and safe. The team undertakes strategic planning to implement whole-of-system projects, research and policy development, monitoring and evaluation, and promotion, prevention, and early intervention initiatives. The team works closely with consumer and family/carer organisations, the community sector, and organisations representing diverse communities, to reduce stigma and promote and raise public awareness of suicide prevention in Tasmania.  

The Role:

  • Located within Public Health Services, the role entails providing high-level policy analysis, strategic advice, project management, leadership and direction, in the planning, development, implementation, management and delivery of key strategic policy, programs and initiatives related to suicide prevention, with a particular focus on implementation of the Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Strategy.
  • Working collaboratively with other team members in Public Health Services and with key stakeholders within the Department of Health, other government agencies, the suicide prevention and mental health community sectors, including peak bodies, and other key stakeholders to support the implementation of the Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Strategy and related strategies and initiatives.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term full time day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of twelve months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of 12 months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $128,102 to $134,832 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
