
The Team:
The Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) Community Team work with children and young people living with a mental illness as well as their families using a multidisciplinary best practice approach to deliver excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Role:
This is a fixed term, 12 months Post Graduate Nursing role which would be well suited to an early career Registered Nurse who is interested in working in this setting. Ideally, the incumbent will be working towards a postgraduate mental health nursing qualification or have interest in further mental health study at the tertiary level and will be well supported to meet their learning goals.
You will need
- Knowledge of the principles of nursing care and their application to a mental health/psychiatric nursing setting and the ability to develop clinical skills relevant to the designated area.
- Ability, or capacity to quickly acquire the ability, to apply nursing skills and knowledge to the assessment of clients with mental health issues and the development and implementation of appropriate treatment interventions including case management.
- Knowledge and understanding of Mental Health in relation to clients and their families and carers or the capacity to quickly acquire this and experience and knowledge of liaison and consultation with other services and agencies.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing in July 2025 for a period of approximately twelve (12) months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Acceptance as a student in the relevant diploma or certificate program
