Job description:

Exciting opportunity for a Senior Social Worker to join the Department of Health!

The Team:

We are seeking an experienced health social worker to be part of our Community & Outpatient Social work team, based at the Sorrell Community Health Centre.

The Role:

Within a primary health care framework, provide a social work service to individuals, families, groups and communities.

Deliver accessible and equitable social work services to adults in Southern Tasmania who experience psychosocial health issues.

Provide an effective, holistic psychosocial service that is evidence-informed, locally appropriate and sustainable.

As a senior member of the health care team provide support to leadership in developing, implementing and monitoring policies and practices that reflect the priorities and standards of the service.

Promote community awareness work with other agencies, organisations and the wider community to develop an integrated approach to delivering health services

You will need:

  1. Extensive experience as a practising social worker, together with substantial knowledge and skills in the provision of a Social Work service in community settings and sound knowledge and understanding of the principles of primary health care and of current state and national health vision and policy.
  2. Knowledge of the principles of community development and skills in developing and evaluating health promotion programs, understanding and experience in community recovery assessment and response plus knowledge of community resources and the ability to provide support to health professionals, non-government service providers and the wider community in relation to health care needs.
  3. Proven high level communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary health care team and to build positive working relationships with other service providers, local support organisations and the wider community.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $110,425 to $126703 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances: 

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Benefits available to eligible candidates:

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Degree in Social Work giving eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers

  • Current Driver’s Licence
