The Team

We are seeking a motivated Physiotherapist to join our Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy Team to work as the Senior Physiotherapist in the Cardiorespiratory Outpatients service. The Cardiorespiratory Outpatients service is based at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) and Clarence Integrated Care Centre (CICC). In the role of Senior Physiotherapist, you will coordinate, and deliver, the pulmonary rehabilitation and airway clearance physiotherapy outpatient services for THS-S. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the team to deliver evidence driven patient centred care. Clinical areas you will work in are chronic lung conditions, heart failure, lung/ heart transplant, dysfunctional breathing and breathlessness management. As a member of the Physiotherapy team, you will contribute to a culture of learning and foster leadership and innovation.

The Role

We are looking for a motivated Senior Physiotherapist - Cardiorespiratory Outpatients who is dedicated to provide evidence-based physiotherapy to patients living with chronic respiratory disease and chronic cardiac conditions in THS-South.

This role has a varied workload, which includes clinical work, managing service operations and mentoring. There may also be opportunity for participation in research tasks. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently in a complex outpatient environment to optimise patient outcomes.

The Senior Physiotherapist - Cardiorespiratory Outpatients will perform duties including:

  • Provide contemporary, evidence driven patient centred physiotherapy care to the Cardiorespiratory Outpatients Physiotherapy Service within THS-S.
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision and professional support to the Cardiorespiratory Outpatients (CROP) team, including physiotherapists, allied health assistants, respiratory nurse, and undergraduate students.
  • Promote a learning culture by contributing effectively to quality improvement and service development activities.
  • Contribute to the delivery of formal research activities that are being undertaken in the Cardiorespiratory Outpatient Physiotherapy Service.
  • Maintain efficient and effective operations of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Airway Clearance services, to facilitate patient-flow, maintain the waiting list and optimise patient outcomes.
  • Provide clinical expertise and professional education to Physiotherapy, Allied Health, Medical and Nursing Teams, and external agencies

You will need

  • Significant general and specific physiotherapist experience relevant to the cardiorespiratory clinical area in conjunction with sound knowledge of relevant contemporary physiotherapy practice including assessment, intervention techniques, literature, resources, and equipment.
  • Proven commitment to ongoing professional development and ability to supervise and educate other health professionals, undergraduate students and support workers and a continuing contribution to knowledge in the identified clinical area/unit.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a complex multidisciplinary environment.

Details of appointment

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for 6 months. 

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$117,272 to $126,182 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2025.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $126,182 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

  • Registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia

  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Post graduate qualifications, or working toward this in the identified clinical area
