Duties

• Conduct assessments of alleged misconduct and serious misconduct.
• Undertake investigations arising from complaints and own-motion investigations. This will include:
  • assisting to identify, prioritise and scope misconduct risks;
  • collecting and analysing evidence, including preparing for and undertaking coercive interviews;
  • liaising with public sector employees and senior officials, and
  • preparing comprehensive and high-quality reports relating to complex investigations, including factual findings and recommendations.
• Undertake research into, and analysis of, various misconduct, complaint and oversight matters, including drafting requests for advice.
• Provide expert advice to senior managers and other stakeholders on complex or serious misconduct matters, investigations and operational issues.
• Liaise with external stakeholders, including the Office of the Solicitor-General, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and other senior legal staff from public authorities.
• Perform other duties appropriate to the classification as required by the Chief Executive Officer and Director, Complaints and Oversight - Operations.

Essential Requirements

The Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this vacancy is to satisfy pre-employment checks before taking up the appointment, promotion, or transfer.

The successful appointee must satisfy:

• A security vetting process to obtain Baseline security clearance (access to classified information and resources up to and including PROTECTED).
  
  This process requires the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency to collect personal information to assess suitability. Australian citizenship is a requirement of security vetting.

• Conviction check – National Police Check no older than 3 months is required.
• A pre-employment check about any disciplinary or managerial action in any previous employment.
• Identification check.

Desirable requirements

Desirable requirements for this position include any or all of the following:

• Relevant tertiary qualification such as Law.
• Experience working in an integrity, regulatory or law enforcement agency.
• Experience in, or understanding of, the conduct of performance or compliance audits.
