Duties

• Conduct, independently and with others, assessments and investigations of alleged misconduct utilising the powers of assessors and investigators under the Act.
• Triage, review and assess whether the management of misconduct matters by public authorities complies with legislation, policy and good practice.
• Conduct audits, prepare research reports, conduct reviews of regulatory mechanisms monitored by the Commission, and complete other reports and projects as required.
• Consider and analyse evidence and make findings and recommendations.
• Prepare accurate, logical, succinct and timely reports and other written materials.
• Identify ongoing and emerging misconduct issues in complaints and oversight matters and prepare and provide reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Provide information to stakeholders about good practice and policy and legislative obligations; and provide high-level advice to the senior management group. 
• Perform other duties appropriate to the classification as required by the Chief Executive Officer and Director, Complaints and Oversight - Operations.

Essential Requirement

The Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this vacancy is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.

The following checks are to be conducted:

• A security vetting process to obtain Baseline security clearance (access to classified information and resources up to and including PROTECTED). This process requires the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency to collect personal information to assess suitability.
• Conviction check – National Police Check no older than 3 months is required.
• A pre-employment check on any disciplinary or managerial action in any previous employment.
• Identification check.

Desirable Requirements

Desirable requirements for this position include any or all of the following:

• Relevant tertiary qualification, such as in Law.
• A Certificate III in Investigative Services; or Certificate IV or Diploma in Investigations; or Diploma in Government (Investigations) would be highly regarded.
• Experience working in a confidential or sensitive environment.
