Details of Appointment

Permanent full-time

This is a day work position working 73.5 hrs / fortnight.

Working Environment

Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. This position is based at Risdon Vale. The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time).

Duties

  • Assist in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the Visitor Reception Centre, and the delivery of key prisoner services including visits, mail, and the receipt of monies.
  • Assist VRC staff with the redirection of general community enquiries to the relevant outputs for action.
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Visitor Reception Centre and provide training, guidance, and initial supervision to new staff in this area.
  • Anticipate and resolve issues associated with the activities of the Visitor Reception Centre.
  • Process visitor nomination and application forms and maintain associated registers.
  • Assist in managing the TPS iPad Register and ensure iPads used for prisoner video visits are available and working. Liaise with IT to arrange repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying jobs at this classification level.
