Details of Appointment

Benefits
Salary of $103,290 to $108,307 pa. Starting salary negotiable within range subject to experience in a similar role. Annual salary increase within this range in accordance with the Tasmanian State Service Award and Public Sector Union Wages Agreement

Working Environment
Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. This position is based at Risdon Vale. The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time).
Duties
- Take the lead on developing policies that progress the Government’s and TPS’s strategic direction and priorities.
- Provide high level support and advice to the Manager, Policy and Senior Management Team.
- Contribute to the safety, security and good order of the prison system by researching, developing, evaluating and reviewing TPS policies, procedures and associated corporate documents.
- Coordinate and respond to complex enquiries and requests on behalf of the Director of Prisons and Assistant Director, Engagement, Communications and Policy.
- Coordinate ministerial briefings and requests to Senior Managers on behalf of the Director of Prisons and Assistant Director, Engagement, Communications and Policy.
- Prepare high-level documents including ministerial briefings, reports and conference papers.
- Extract and analyse data and provide reports regarding the results of the analysis, particularly in relation to Key Performance Indicators and other service delivery outcomes.
- Maintain and approve content for the TPS Intranet and external website and manage information requests.
- The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying jobs at this classification level, including assisting the Performance and Compliance Unit from time to time.
