The Team

The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is a 340-bed tertiary referral hospital serving Northern Tasmania and providing a comprehensive range of healthcare services to the region. The hospital delivers emergency and acute care, specialist services, as well as inpatient and ambulatory care across a broad range of clinical specialties.

The LGH Pool is a dynamic and highly valued team that supports patient care across medical, surgical and specialty services. Pool nurses have the opportunity to work in a diverse range of clinical areas, including paediatrics, neonatal nursery, maternity, intensive care, emergency and outpatient services. This flexible and collaborative workforce plays a vital role in ensuring patients receive high-quality care in the most appropriate setting, while offering staff a varied and rewarding clinical experience.

The Role

The primary purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate the educational development of the Nursing Pool workforce, supporting the establishment of a highly skilled, adaptable and responsive team that can be rapidly deployed to meet organisational priorities and service demands. The role plays a key part in ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care is delivered wherever and whenever it is needed across the health service in line with the CARE values of THS.

Supporting a workforce of more than 500 nursing and patient care employees, this position provides educational leadership for staff working across approximately 45 clinical areas within the Launceston General Hospital, including specialty services and District Hospitals. The successful applicant will be passionate about workforce development and committed to supporting both casual and permanent Nursing Pool staff to build capability, confidence and clinical excellence across a diverse range of practice settings.

As a newly established position, the Clinical Nurse Educator – Nursing Pool will be responsible for developing, planning, promoting, coordinating, implementing and evaluating education and training programs tailored to the unique needs of the pool workforce. Working collaboratively with the established team of Clinical Nurse Educators across THS North, the role will contribute to a culture of continuous learning, evidence-based practice, workforce flexibility and professional growth, ensuring staff are equipped to work safely and effectively across multiple clinical environments.

Details of appointment

  • Permanent full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you can join us.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$118,297 to $125,543 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
