The Team

The Hospitals North SAFE Service is a nurse led service, with support from the Paediatric team as required. The team work closely with Laurel House, the Emergency Department, GPs and Tasmanian Police. Professional Development opportunities and regular Clinical Supervision is offered to support the team in this challenging and rewarding role. 

The Role

  • The SAFE Services provides a 24-hour, 7 day per week service for clients presenting with an alleged sexual assault and/or family/domestic violence incident.
  • The SAFE Service provides forensic examinations and protocols for investigative purposes, prepares Medico-Legal Reports, attends Court hearings to provide evidence/as an expert witness when required, organises prophylactic contraception and other medications as required, and advises on medical follow up.
  • A Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) CNC is on-site Monday to Friday during Business Hours and on-call after hours and on weekends/Public Holidays.

Details of appointment

  • Fixed term part time, day worker position with on-call, working up to 12 hours per fortnight, 20 July 2026 until 3 February 2027.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration

  • Holds a post-graduate qualification in the area of sexual assault forensic and medical examination
