The Team

RHH is Tasmania’s largest hospital; Mental Health Hospital in the Home (MH HITH) is a virtual hospital based in the community as part of the RHH. 

MH HITH is a multidisciplinary service inclusive of medical, nursing, allied health, and peer support workers. 

MH HITH provides in home care of a person experiencing mental health challenges who would otherwise be in hospital.  This is achieved by the clinical staff working for MH HITH visiting consumers within their own home providing ongoing assessment and mental health support inclusive of medication regimes, allied health specific therapy and medical officer intervention.

The Role

Provides assertive acute home-based mental health care to consumers, including triage, comprehensive mental health assessments, assertive short-term care coordination, safety planning, medication management and titration, and ongoing psychotherapeutic work using a range of modalities and techniques, transfer of care and discharge planning, in collaboration with consumers, families and carers, within a multi-disciplinary team.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to manage and coordinate the clinical activities within a multidisciplinary based mental health acute care team; with the ability to assist the stream Manager in relation to the effective management of human and physical resources as required.
  • Demonstrated specialist level knowledge and advanced practice in relation to the field of mental health including a proven ability to provide a range of assessments, specialist treatments and interventions.
  • Demonstrated capacity to positively role model and effectively undertake a coordination/leadership role within a multidisciplinary community based mental health acute care team, including providing supervision and support to other staff as required.

Details of appointment

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 18 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

  • Holds or is working towards a relevant post graduate qualification

  • Current Driver’s Licence
