The Team
The Royal Hobart Hospital seeks a highly motivated and team orientated Clinical Nurse Consultant -McGrath Cancer Care Nurse to provide leadership and direction to support and care for geriatric patients within Southern Tasmania who have been diagnosed with Cancer.
Cancer and Blood Services (CaBS) at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH), is a comprehensive service dedicated to cancer and blood disorder patients including the state-wide bone marrow transplant service. The units together with the McGrath Foundation of Australian work together to provide treatment, research, clinical trials and education regarding these diseases and survivorship care.
The Cancer and Blood Services Team, with their multi-disciplinary approach, not only support the patient but allow health professionals to deliver optimum clinical outcomes for patients and their families. The Role

Provide expert clinical leadership and specialist nursing care for older people with cancer, supporting comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, care coordination, and referral across oncology, radiation oncology, palliative care, allied health, and community services.

Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based geriatric oncology practice, clinical guidelines, education resources, quality improvement initiatives, and service development in alignment with the McGrath Model of Care.

Act as a clinical resource and advocate for patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals, while building multidisciplinary partnerships and contributing to strategic planning and the ongoing development of geriatric cancer services.
You will need
-
Current Registered Nurse registration with AHPRA, with substantial clinical experience in oncology/cancer nursing and demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge relevant to the care of older people with cancer.

Demonstrated clinical leadership, multidisciplinary collaboration, care coordination, education, and quality improvement skills, with the ability to develop and implement evidence-based clinical practice and guidelines.

Highly developed communication, consultation, assessment, and organisational skills, with the ability to provide expert advice, support complex patient and family needs, and work autonomously while contributing effectively to multidisciplinary teams.

Details of appointment
Fixed term part time, day worker position, working up to 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until October 2027.
*The hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary
$118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Eligibility

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

Holds, or working towards, relevant postgraduate tertiary qualifications.

Post Graduate qualifications in oncology, or palliative care.

AHPRA Nursing Registration Division 1
- Current Driver’s Licence
