Job description:

Utilise your written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of Tasmania, and ability to deliver high quality work to support the agency’s global and domestic public relations program

We are looking for a talented Public Relations Coordinator who loves Tasmania and will bring their positive energy, attention to detail and strong organisational skills to support the agency’s PR activity and projects.

As a member of the Content team, you will utilise your written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of Tasmania, and ability to deliver high quality work to support the agency’s global and domestic public relations program. You will work collaboratively and foster relationships with our global PR agencies and support the monitoring of media coverage of Tourism Tasmania.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Contributing to our international and domestic PR program by encouraging travel to Tasmania through managing media enquiries and supporting our PR Managers with PR story generation.
  • Working closely with the PR Managers, coordinating and promoting Tasmania to travel and lifestyle media and making bookings for media visitations.
  • Working with key internal stakeholders to support the implementation of strategies that promote the state’s tourism industry and collating and monitoring media results from famils and incidental coverage with PR agencies.
  • Providing day-to-day coordination and support to the PR Managers, including meeting and famil coordination and associated travel bookings, budget expenditure reporting, filing of key documents, maintaining monday.com planning calendars, and general support for projects and initiatives.
  • Understanding corporate wide processes to support the efficient and effective delivery of PR activities and processes.
  • Collaborating with Tourism Tasmania’s cross-functional teams with an open communication style, displaying confidentiality, initiative, judgement, tact and discretion.
  • Maintaining a high degree of agency awareness and being familiar with the strategic direction and current activities and issues associated with the marketing team.
  • Working with PR Agencies, PR Managers and the broader marketing team to deliver on key priorities, challenging current practices and bringing curiosity and contemporary thinking to marketing issues.

What you'll work on

  • In collaboration with the PR Managers, support proactive and reactive media opportunities as required.
  • Undertake PR projects and tasks which involve investigation and research, analysis, problem solving and the development of written materials.
  • Support always on media management including managing PR requests, active story ideation, coordinating responses, and famil briefing and coordination, seeking input from across teams.
  • Implement your well-developed administration and organisational skills to ensure effective record management and maintain, in collaboration, reporting and tracking that demonstrates the value of the PR program.
  • Research and collate material relevant to issues under consideration by the Senior PR Manager.
  • Undertake specific projects as requested by the Senior PR Manager, as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of and managing the timely flow of papers (Board papers, Question Time Briefs, budget estimates, presentation decks) across the PR team.
  • Schedule and coordinate strategic and regular meetings, famils and events including the preparation of agendas and background material and supporting meeting requirements.  Recording meeting outcomes and monitoring agreed actions, as required.
  • Monitor the PR budget and complete budget officer tasks, as required.
