About the role
The Technical Officer (Plant Biosecurity) will contribute to the Tasmanian Biosecurity System by supporting professional entomology and plant pathology staff in the provision of diagnostic services, surveillance services, scientific data and advisory services.
- Process and screen plant biosecurity submissions for various clients including biosecurity operational staff, plant production industries, scientists and researchers.
- Undertake early detection diagnostics of samples from around the state and interstate, including plant disease and invertebrate samples.
- Work in a laboratory with a range of old and new technologies.
- Undertake field activities of pest surveillance in collaboration with operations staff.

Essential requirements
- A Certificate III or IV in Biological or Agricultural Science or an equivalent level as provided by either a vocational education organisation or a registered and accredited training provider.
Desirable requirements
- A current motor vehicle driver's licence.
