Job description:
To strengthen and build the Transport Group’s profile through the provision of communications strategies including the use of digital and traditional media, media advice and management. Provide leadership to a small team of staff, and support to the Team Leader Communications.

Period of Appointment
Appointment to the role is on a permanent, flexible basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight).
Duties
- Under broad direction from the Team Leader Communications, provide leadership to, and oversee the work outputs of, a small team of communications officers.
- Develop and deliver effective and professional communications and media strategies for the Transport Group.
- Working closely with the Department’s Communications Branch, manage the media outputs for the Transport Group including media releases and responses, updates to the Ministerials announcement diary, talking points, speeches and event packs.
- Coordinate with staff to arrange access, media representatives and stakeholders on site for media events.
- Provide advice to staff on communications and media matters, appropriate communications strategies, activities and tools.
- Produce effective written communication material across a range of media and for a range of audiences.
- Coordinate monitoring and reporting of relevant media coverage.
- Work closely with other members of the Stakeholder Communications Branch to develop, implement, manage and review appropriate systems, processes and procedures to support effective and efficient communications activities.
- Report on the effectiveness of communications and media strategies
Desirable Requirements
- A current full car driver licence
- Tertiary qualifications in media or journalism, public affairs, communications or related discipline and/or experience in public affairs and communications activities.
