Job description:

The Program Officer will work as part of a small, client focused team to deliver Arts Tasmania’s various competitive grant and loan programs effectively and efficiently. They will also undertake a range of other duties including the preparation of ministerial documentation (correspondence and briefs) and supporting the delivery of industry development activities and special projects.

About Arts Tasmania

Arts Tasmania supports and develops the arts and cultural heritage sectors as part of the Creative Industries, Sport and Visitor Economy division of the Department of State Growth.

Arts Tasmania offers a range of competitive grant and loan programs to support Tasmanian arts and cultural heritage activities in line with strategic outcomes set by the Department of State Growth and the Tasmanian Government.

Duties

The Program Officer will play a key role in all aspects of Arts Tasmania’s competitive grant and loan programs by:

  • responding to enquiries about Arts Tasmania’s grant and loan programs in a timely manner and providing clear and accurate information to potential applicants
  • preparing clear and accurate documentation for diverse audiences including web content, online application forms, meeting records, correspondence, and grant agreements
  • supporting the Manager, Grants to administer the peer assessment process, with a strong focus on confidentiality and conflict of interest management
  • engaging in difficult conversations with unsuccessful applicants to provide constructive feedback
  • utilising relevant systems and technologies (such as SmartyGrants, Content Manager, and the Microsoft Suite) to ensure effective program delivery and accurate record-keeping
  • participating in regular evaluations of internal systems and processes to ensure that Arts Tasmania’s practices align with current best practices in grant management.

Outside of the grant and loan programs, the Program Officer will:

  • prepare a range of documents for different audiences such as correspondence, reports, briefs, speaking notes and presentations.
  • support the Manager, Special Projects and Industry Development to deliver industry development activities and special projects.  
  • support the Director to complete other allocated tasks, as required.

Desirable Requirements

  • Current driver’s license
