
The Team:
Library Services is a small friendly state-wide team that works closely together as part of the Department of Health to provide high-quality support to our clinicians, researchers and general staff. As a Library Technician, you’ll play an important role in delivering a range of information and knowledge services while being supported through training and teamwork. We’re here to help make sure the Department of Health staff get the best and latest information resources and decision making tools possible within a respectful and professional environment.
The Role:
Provide a range of customer-focused library and information services and supply technical support for the operation and maintenance of a special library.
- Execute a wide range of specialised technical duties necessary to maintain library and information services for DoH staff
- Advise and guide clients in accessing the resources and services of the Library and assist with information queries and research.
- Identify and resolve problems associated with the day-to-day functioning of the Library.
- In consultation with management develop, review and update procedures that support technical duties and initiate and participate in quality management activities.
- Provide training, guidance and feedback to less qualified or experienced staff undertaking technical duties.
- Provide administrative support for the Library’s professional staff and maintain appropriate statistical records.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.

You will need:
- Extensive experience in and knowledge of library procedures including circulation, document delivery, collection maintenance and information access.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve a high standard of customer service through sound interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience in the use and operation of computerised equipment and systems in a library and information environment.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve a high standard of customer service through sound interpersonal communication skills.
- Well-developed organisational skills and demonstrated personal initiative, flexibility and motivation coupled with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of equal employment opportunity, Work Health and Safety and quality management.

Details of Appointment:
Fixed term part time, day worker position, working 45.6 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible until 31 December 2025.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $73,811 - $79,779 per annum pro rata + 11.5% superannuation is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Possession of a Diploma in Library and Information Studies or equivalent TAFE/Polytechnic or post-secondary qualification with eligibility for Library Technician membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.
