Job description:

Exciting opportunity to be part of a reform into Child & Youth mental health services as we expand to improve care to the young people in the north.

The Team:

CYMHS is undergoing a reform process with many exciting programs being developed and opportunities to be part of this in an MDT Professional Development supported for the successful applicant. 

The Role:

As part of the MDT providing specialist interventions to those young people with severe and complex mental health issues. Be a part of the assessment team in providing crisis intervention and support to those presenting in crisis situations. 

You will need:

  • Extensive experience and demonstrated specialist level knowledge of contemporary mental health nursing and an understanding of mental health issues in relation to children, adolescents and their families, in both inpatient and community settings.
  • Proven ability to provide a range of assessments and therapeutic interventions relevant for children, adolescents and families accessing services and the ability to acquire further expertise in this area.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of other services and agencies in the context of providing specialist mental health assessment, advice, and training including the capacity to develop and maintain partnerships with a broad range of key local stakeholders.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including negotiation, conflict resolution and decision-making skills and the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and to liaise and consult effectively with stakeholders and other service providers. An ability to develop comprehensive oral and written reports.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan and a capacity to contribute towards the introduction of the model of care within a community setting.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

  • Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Minimum of 2 years post graduate experience in an area relevant to the role
  • Postgraduate qualification or working towards a postgraduate qualification  relevant to the role
  • Current Driver’s Licence
