Job description:

As a Hospital Ward Aid, you will play a key role in supporting the nursing team in delivering high-quality care to patients.

The Team: 

The North West Cancer Service in Burnie is dedicated to providing comprehensive, high-quality healthcare to the Tasmanian community.  We provide specialist outpatient services in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Clinical Haematology. As part of our team, you will be contributing to compassionate patient care, working in a collaborative environment focused on delivering excellent healthcare outcomes.

The Role: 

Northern Cancer Service Hospital Aid provides essential non-clinical support across oncology and radiation services within the North West Cancer Centre. As a Hospital Ward Aid, you will play a key role in supporting the nursing team in delivering high-quality care to patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily ward activities, maintaining and ordering ward stock, following infection control practices, safe cytotoxic waste practices, and well-organised environment for both patients and staff.

You will need:

  • The ability to work and plan daily duties with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of infection control.
  • An understanding of hospital policies and procedures as they apply to the provision of a non-clinical support service.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term part time, day worker, working up to 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 1 February 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $59,930 - $61,367 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
