Job description:

Department of Health are seeking to expand their pool of casual Health Care Assistants. These roles will work on an as and when required basis within Mental Health Services - Northside.

The role:

  • Assist staff making and changing beds; toileting, showering or bathing for non-ambulatory, heavy or physically compromised patients.
  • Assist nursing staff in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) as required.
  • Participate in patient care and monitoring under the direct supervision of nursing staff.
  • Contribute to the accurate transmission of patient information by participation in daily handover meetings.
  • Maintain medical gas supplies.
  • Orient newly employed staff in local procedures, techniques and policies and assist with their familiarisation to Northside Mental Health Clinic.
  • Responsible for the evacuation of patients in the case of fire, gas leak or bomb threat as directed by the Unit’s Warden/s.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term, casual, shift-worker positions working as and when required, commencing from as soon as possible for 12 months.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $65,236 to $68,925 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  4. crimes involving dishonesty

  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
