Job description:

The Team

Northern Tasmanian Pathology Service (NTPS) provides Pathology services to Launceston General Hospital and the Northern regions of Tasmania. We are the only public pathology service operating in North Tasmania. NTPS aims to deliver a high-quality service to general practitioners, medical specialists and private hospitals, providing patients with no out of pocket expenses for Medicare eligible tests. The team at NTPS comprises a large team involving multi-disciplinary scientists, technicians, non-technical staff and Pathologists.

The Role

This role will primarily work within the core laboratory, assisting with specimen processing, interpreting results, performing assigned tasks and confidently communicating with clinicians and other clinical staff on a routine basis.

You will need

  • Ability to apply scientific principles in the work environment.
  • An appropriate level of professional experience and an appropriate range of medical laboratory skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team in an environment subject to changing priorities.

Details of appointment

Fixed term full time, shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 April 2027.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$73,834 to $111,364 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Salary Packaging

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Science or Applied Science or equivalent suitable to the position from a recognised institution.
  • Eligible for membership with a relevant professional body such as Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists, Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine, The Australian Society for Microbiology, Human Genetics Society of Australasia or the Australian Society of Cytology.
  • Where these is no relevant professional body, the essential qualification must be met

  • Membership/Fellowship awarded by a recognised professional body
