Job description:

About the role:

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will use your clinical skills to assess and provide support to children in Tasmanian schools and Child and Family Learning Centres. You will be welcomed into a highly encouraging team-based environment, and we will support your career and professional development, tailoring supervision, clinical support and mentoring to meet your needs.

You will benefit from a wide range of opportunities to collaborate on projects and be part of an innovative team of Speech and Language Pathologists. There will be capacity for you to work across all areas of clinical practice including speech sound disorders, language and literacy, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), feeding and fluency. As you become established you can choose to specialise in early intervention or complex communication needs.

Period of Appointment: Permanent

Hours of work: Up to 76 hours per fortnight (part time hours may be negotiated - minimum 0.6 FTE)

Salary Range:  $78,746 to $112,512 (per annum, pro rata) + 11.5% superannuation.

Professional development: $1,000 per annum for professional development expenses and eligibility to apply for up to 10 days per annum study leave (pro-rata).

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study accredited by Speech Pathology Australia
  • Full membership or eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status - Employment).

Desirable Requirements

A current driver's licence.

DECYP Speech Pathology Scholarship

There is also an opportunity to apply for the DECYP Speech Pathology Scholarship.

The Scholarship provides $25,000 to support the costs of studying your course. Scholarship recipients will receive: $5,000 in your final year of study; another $10,000 when you commence your job; and $10,000 following completion of two years’ service as a DECYP Speech and Language Pathologist.

Students enrolled in their final year of an accredited speech pathology program at an Australian university and expected to complete their course in 2025 can apply for the Scholarship with their job application.

A limited number of scholarships are available and will be awarded on merit. An offer of employment does not guarantee that you will be awarded a scholarship. Please refer to the Scholarship Guidelines for more information, including full eligibility requirements.

  1. Outline a situation that demonstrates your skills and knowledge in providing a speech and language pathology service for children and/or young people (maximum 500 words).
  2. Describe a scenario where you have worked collaboratively highlighting how you overcame any challenges to achieve positive outcomes for children and or young people (maximum 500 words).
