The Department of Health is seeking a highly experienced leader to step into the critical role of Deputy Secretary Infrastructure. This senior executive position offers the opportunity to lead and design, delivery, and commissioning of health capital assets over the next 5 years in line with government objectives.
The Role
The Deputy Secretary Infrastructure is responsible for strategic leadership of the Department’s significant asset portfolio and capital development program. As a member of the Health Executive team, the position assists the Secretary in supporting and advising the Department’s Ministers and in providing leadership and governance across the Department.
This position is responsible for:
- Strategic oversight, leadership, and management of a significant asset portfolio, including land and buildings, medical equipment, fleet and leased properties, and a complex capital development program across the health system.
- Providing authoritative advice and strategic options to the Government and the Secretary on health system infrastructure needs and prioritisation of operational delivery to align with clinical planning frameworks.
- Designing, delivering, and commissioning of over $0.7 Billion in health capital assets over the next 5 years.
- Working across Health operational environments to lead commissioning, decommissioning and business readiness for the acceptance and operation of new capital works and their integration into existing medical environments.
Appointment Details
The position is offered as a 5-year contract, with an attractive remuneration package, including a salary range between $266,773 and $306,623 p.a. plus 11.5% superannuation.

- Satisfactory completion of an appropriate course of study from a recognised tertiary institution in a relevant field
- Extensive experience in the management of services and operation of governments at senior executive level
- Extensive experience in the delivery of public sector capital work programs
