Job description:

Seeking a suitably qualified Speech Pathologist to join our interdisciplinary team in the Community Rehabilitation Unit of our Repatriation Centre.

The role:

  • Work closely with the interdisciplinary team to deliver client-centred and evidence-based therapeutic intervention programs (individual and group therapy) for dysphagia, aphasia, dysarthria, dysphonia, dyspraxia and cognitive-communication disorders.
  • Have access to regular supervision and support from the Community Rehabilitation Unit (CRU) Senior Speech Pathologist, as well as CRU professional development and in-services.
  • Receive excellent support and funding assistance for professional development is provided as well as opportunity to attend reflective practice sessions, professional development sessions and journal club with Speech Pathologists within the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) organisation.
  • Have access to instrumental assessments at Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) including opportunity to complete Videofluoroscopy training and attend Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing.
  • Have opportunity to work creatively and collaboratively with Art as Therapy services to offer client services that compliment traditional rehabilitation approaches.
  • Liaise with the broader rehabilitation team including rehabilitation doctors, geriatricians, neurologists and neurological support service nurses, including regular case conferences.
  • Liaise with RHH Speech Pathologists across the continuum of care.

Position Features: Rotation across clinical work areas in the Southern rehabilitation services may be required

The CRU Service and Team:

  • Deliver adult outpatient rehabilitation service working with clients with a diverse range of diagnostic conditions, primarily acquired neurological conditions (e.g. stroke, traumatic brain injury) and progressive neurological conditions (e.g. Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis).
  • Comprise an interdisciplinary team (including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Dietetics, Social Work, Rehabilitation Nursing, Art Tutor, Allied Health Assistants) with a focus on client centred goal setting and rehabilitation planning.
  • Work with clients to achieve their rehabilitation goals in our well-equipped centre and in their home and community.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately 12 months.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary: $71,441 - $107,878 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Salary range is in accordance with the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022. 

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualification/program of study accredited by Speech Pathology Australia and is a full member of Speech Pathology Australia or is eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia
    Or where regulatory requirements exist, NDIS Q&S Commission Provider Registration Requirements
  2. Full member of Speech Pathology Australia
