Job description:

Seeking Senior Respiratory Physiotherapist to work with the Tasmanian Cystic Fibrosis Unit (TACFU) based in Hobart.

  • Specialised clinical role as part of Statewide TACFU Service 
  • Work in a complex and well-supported multidisciplinary environment
  • Engaging mix of inpatient and outpatient caseloads

The role:

Within the Department Framework and in accordance with Agency Policy and Procedures the Senior Physiotherapist will, within a defined clinical team and/or other specified areas of the Hospitals South:

  • Provide best practice and evidence-based physiotherapy services to inpatients admitted under general respiratory services, including cystic fibrosis, assuming clinical responsibility consistent with a senior clinical position.
  • Provide best practice and evidence-based physiotherapy services to outpatient cystic fibrosis clinics.
  • Work collaboratively with the patient, their carer/s, and the multidisciplinary teams to deliver appropriate physiotherapy intervention and develop discharge plans.
  • Exercise a high degree of independent professional judgement in the resolution of more complex technical or critical professional problems.
  • Supervise junior physiotherapists, students and AHAs (PT) as required.
  • Contribute to the overall operations of the Cardiorespiratory Team and the Tasmanian Cystic Fibrosis Unit.
  • Provide education and assessment to junior staff in preparation for weekends/as part of in-service timetable, and to students as required.

The senior physiotherapist will be part of the Cardiorespiratory Team and the Tasmanian Cystic Fibrosis Unit (TACFU) at Royal Hobart Hospital, and will have the opportunity to develop skills in independent practice; working in a multidisciplinary team; supporting adults with CF in developing optimal airway clearance, inhalation therapy and exercise regimens in the outpatient/inpatient setting; completing spirometry, exercise testing and other CF specific assessments in a multidisciplinary clinic setting; provision of acute respiratory assessment and intervention for the general respiratory hospital admissions; student supervision (if appropriate); and working with AHAs.

The suitable candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills in the respiratory setting, with experience in airway clearance, inhalation therapy, and exercise testing highly desirable. The suitable candidate will require strong communication skills, as well as a sound understanding of the management of patients in the inpatient setting, as well as in the outpatient clinic setting.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight commencing from June 2024 for approximately eight (8) months.

Salary:

$106,966 - $123,013. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum 
  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $115,573 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 
  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia
  2. Registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia

  1. Current Driver’s Licence
  2. Postgraduate qualifications or working towards this in the identified clinical area
