About the role

As Visitor Services Officer, you’ll provide high-quality services to support the business enterprise at the picturesque Hastings Caves State Reserve, a ‘Hero Destination’ and popular tourist destination in the Huon Valley, home to the largest dolomite tourist cave in Australia, Newdegate Cave. It is also known for its mineral-rich thermal springs swimming pool, which remains at 28 degrees all year-round.

A regular shift as the Visitor Services Officer will include:

  • Conducting guided tours, providing information and advice relating to the natural and cultural values.
  • Collecting revenue from entrance fees and sales.
  • Assisting with the preparation and presentation of food.
  • Undertaking environmental monitoring, cleaning and maintenance tasks.

Essential requirements

  • Tasmanian “Work with Vulnerable People” Registration as required under the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013, or evidence of current in-process application.
  • “HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid” Certificate or equivalent, or the ability to acquire.
  • Current “SISCAQU002 - Basic Water Rescue” (previously “Swim Teacher Rescue Award”) and “HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation” competencies or the ability to acquire.
  • Current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
