The Team

The Specialist Radiography Team within the Department of Health Tasmania delivers advanced diagnostic imaging services that support high-quality patient care and clinical decision-making. Working collaboratively with radiologists, medical specialists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams, the team provides specialised imaging expertise using leading-edge technology across a range of complex clinical settings. Committed to excellence, patient safety, and continuous professional development, the team plays a vital role in achieving accurate diagnoses and improving health outcomes for Tasmanians.

The Role

The Specialist Radiographer (Medical Imaging Practitioner) is responsible for performing basic and advanced diagnostic imaging including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT) and/or Angiography radiographic imaging examinations, procedures and associated administrative tasks.

You will need

  • Wide experience and competence in conducting a range of complex imaging procedures including CT, MRI or Angiography and other specialist modalities
  • Knowledge of modern techniques and instrumentation in specialist medical imaging modalities.

Details of appointment

Two permanent full time, shift worker (fully rotational) positions, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$117,272 to $126,182 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.

Salary Packaging 

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $123,487 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia
  • Registered with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia
  • Licenced to practice under Tasmanian Radiation Protection Act 2005 and the Radiation Protection Regulations 2016

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  • Postgraduate study in advanced medical imaging or other relevant major
  • Professional development in areas relevant to the role
