Our Occupational Therapy Service in Launceston is a dynamic, supportive team of more than 40 occupational therapists delivering care across acute, sub-acute and community settings throughout northern Tasmania.

The Role
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy assessment and intervention for people with complex health needs across a diverse range of clinical settings with an interdisciplinary team environment.
You will play a key role in supporting the professional growth of others through supervision, mentoring and education of occupational therapists, allied health assistants and students. You will also contribute to service development and quality improvement, helping to shape and strengthen occupational therapy practice across the service.
This role offers the opportunity to influence clinical practice, champion innovation, and promote organisational values while delivering exceptional person-centred care.
You will need
You are an experienced and confident occupational therapist who enjoys working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. You bring strong clinical reasoning skills, sound judgement, and a commitment to delivering person-centred care.
You are comfortable working with complexity, making informed decisions, and building effective partnerships with patients, families, carers and other healthcare professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
You will bring:
- Extensive occupational therapy experience, preferably across hospital settings
- Experience working with people with acute, chronic and complex health conditions
- Emerging clinical leadership, supervision or mentoring experience
- Strong risk assessment, clinical reasoning and decision-making skills
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and problem-solving skills
- A commitment to culturally safe, inclusive and person-centred practice
- A passion for continuous learning, quality improvement and evidence-based care

Details of appointment
Multiple appointments are available to commence as soon as possible.
- Permanent, part-time, day worker position, working 60.8 hours per fortnight
- Fixed term, fulltime, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight for 12 months
Applicants should note that for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies that may arise.
Salary
$117,272 to $126,182 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2025.
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $123,487 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

Eligibility
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Occupational Board of Australia
- Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia

- Current Driver’s Licence
- Holds, or progressing towards, a relevant postgraduate qualification
