K9 East is a 33-bed acute surgical unit providing specialist care across a diverse range of services, including orthopaedics, the Statewide Burns Service, urology, plastics and reconstructive surgery, ear, nose and throat (ENT), oral and maxillofacial surgery, and ophthalmology. Our multidisciplinary team is committed to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care while fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes professional development, collaboration and clinical excellence.

The Role

The Clinical Coach is responsible for supporting the development of novice nurses through clinical coaching, supervision and professional guidance within the clinical environment. Working collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Educator and the multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Coach fosters confidence, competence and clinical capability while promoting safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing bedside clinical coaching, support and supervision to novice nurses.
  • Facilitating orientation, preceptorship and clinical learning experiences.
  • Supporting the achievement of learning goals through coaching, reflective practice and constructive feedback.
  • Promoting safe, high-quality clinical practice in line with professional and organisational standards.
  • Contributing to a positive learning culture, professional development and continuous quality improvement within the unit.

You will need 

  • Current knowledge of, and the ability to apply nursing/midwifery principles, procedures, and evidence-based practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a relevant clinical setting and in line with legal requirements, the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), Registered Nurse or Midwife Standards for Practice and other relevant professional standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to use clinical coaching principles to support professional and clinical development of novice nurses and midwives.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership to support the nursing or midwifery management team, and to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Details of appointment

Multiple, Permanent part time, shift worker positions (fully rotational), working up to 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Fixed Term part time, shift worker position (fully rotational), working up to 64 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible for a period of twelve (12) months. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$102,439 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria 

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Minimum of 4 years clinical experience in the relevant practice setting.

  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications appropriate to the clinical area.

  • Membership with the relevant professional organisation (e.g.: Australian College of Nursing, Australian College of Midwives, ACORN, ACCCN).
