The Team

The Smithton District Hospital (SDH) and Community Health Centre are small sized sub-acute public hospital located in Smithton Tasmania. It services the whole Circular Head region with a catchment population of 8000 people.

Smithton Home Care services provide a 5 day a week service, providing home and personal care to clients in their own home plus a foot care clinic service.

The Role

We are seeking motivated and dedicated Home Help Personal Carers to join our team.

The Home Help /Personal Carer will, within a primary health care framework, function effectively as a member of the health care team concerned with the care of an individual and their family unit within the community setting. The occupant of this position provides home help and personal care to the client within their own home.

You will need

1. current drivers' licence & registered vehicle

2. current Cert 3 in Individual support or aged care 

3. current first aid certificate if desired

Details of appointment

Fixed term, casual, position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for approximately 12 months

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$59,668 to $65,185 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2025

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Current Driver’s Licence

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Certificate 3 in Individual Support/aged Care or other relevant qualifications if employed to provide personal care

  • Current first aid certificate
