About the role
The Governance and Risk Officer plays a pivotal role in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of governance, risk, compliance and accountability frameworks that support effective decision-making and organisational performance.
This is a fixed-term opportunity for two years, working 73.50 hours per fortnight (or a minimum of 58.8 hours by negotiation), based in Hobart, Launceston or Devonport.
In this role you will:
- Coordinate and enhance governance, compliance and accountability frameworks.
- Provide high-quality governance and secretariat support to senior leaders, the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board, committees and key stakeholders.
- Maintain critical governance, legislative and policy registers.
- Support risk management, assurance and reporting activities.
- Prepare clear, concise and professional reports, briefing papers and annual reporting documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and compliance activities through effective monitoring, reporting and record-keeping.
Our ideal candidate has
- A strong understanding of governance, risk, compliance and accountability principles and frameworks.
- Experience supporting boards, committees and senior stakeholders, including coordinating meetings, managing actions and contributing to governance outcomes.
- Excellent written communication, report-writing and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- A relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive experience in governance, public administration, business, law, risk management, compliance or a related field.
