Field Officer - Three Capes Track (707842)
About the role
As a Field Officer, you will support the day-to-day operations of the Three Capes Track business enterprise by maintaining buildings, infrastructure, and equipment focussing on the overnight accommodation nodes.
The role involves safely operating and maintaining tools and machinery, and providing visitors with information and safety guidance. You will work and stay on track for periods of up to 10 days, while also contributing to fire management and risk mitigation programs.
The Three Capes Track is a truly special part of the Tasman Peninsula, offering an incredible environment of beauty and natural diversity. This role provides a unique opportunity to apply your practical skills in one of Tasmania’s most remarkable settings.
This is a permanent position working 76 hours (minimum 60.80 hours by negotiation) per fortnight on the Three Capes Track.
Our ideal candidate
- Trade certificate and experience in the construction and maintenance of buildings, infrastructure, or recreation facilities.
- Works well in a team in a remote location, including having the capacity to share accommodation space with colleagues.
- Skills in the safe use and maintenance of machinery, plant, and equipment.
- Knowledge and experience in fire suppression operations.
- Strong communication, organisational skills, and the ability to mentor and supervise colleagues assisting with maintenance tasks.
- Enjoys working outdoors, undertaking physical work, and being a part of a team.
- Can trek long distances and stay in remote locations for extended periods.
Position requirements
- Successful completion of the fitness assessment at the “Arduous” level (4.83km walk carrying 20.5kg in 45 minutes or less).
- Workplace Level 2 First Aid qualification.
- A current motor vehicle drivers’ licence.
