We are seeking Palliative Care registrars to work at Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH). The Royal Hobart hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital and major referral centre. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.

Registrars may work in the inpatient specialist palliative care unit, the community palliative care team and the acute hospital consults service. Roles are accredited for each of the 3 core palliative medicine advanced training terms and clinical foundation in palliative medicine training.

Salary

$138,978 - $194,675 per annum + 12% superannuation and access to salary packaging

Salary range is in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025

Period of Employment

Fixed term, full time day work, working 76 hours per fortnight (+10 hours protected training time per fortnight, pro rata), commencing from 1 February 2027 until 7 February 2028.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Duties

  • The Registrar is responsible for the day-to-day management of private & public inpatients/outpatients and provides after hours emergency cover at the hospital as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Registration or eligible for Registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.  The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
    • Crimes of Violence
    • Sex Related Offences
    • Serious Drug Offences
    • Crimes involving dishonesty
  2. Identification check
  3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
