The Team:
Clinical Support Officers (CSOs) are central to Ambulance Tasmania’s clinical governance and frontline support, providing statewide leadership, oversight, and expert guidance.
Working as part of the Regional Training Unit CSOs deliver clinical leadership through training, mentorship, and real‑time decision support in complex cases, strengthening frontline decision‑making and patient outcomes. CSOs also maintain clinical standards through patient care monitoring, quality assurance, and contribution to staff performance review, supporting continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
The Role:
- Provide clinical leadership and support to frontline ambulance staff through mentoring, guidance, and real-time clinical decision support.
- Coordinate and deliver clinical education, training programs, and professional development activities to maintain workforce capability and competence.
- Monitor and promote clinical standards through quality assurance activities, patient care review, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support a positive, values-driven workplace culture by role modelling professional behaviours and contributing to staff development and performance.
- Exercise initiative and sound judgement while working with a high degree of autonomy, ensuring compliance with Ambulance Tasmania policies, clinical governance frameworks, and patient safety requirements.
You will need:
- Demonstrated excellence in the provision of pre-hospital emergency care.
- Capacity to respond to emergency cases and deliver advanced pre-hospital care as an Intensive Care Paramedic.
- Extensive knowledge of ambulance operations, technology and patient care clinical practice guidelines.

Details of appointment:
Permanent part time, shift worker position, working 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Position Features:
- The position is located in the designated operational region, and shift work will be required.
Salary:
$149,182 to $152,790 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.

Eligibility:

Registered with the Paramedicine Board of Australia

Holds current accreditation as an Intensive Care Paramedic with an additional qualification in training and assessment or equivalent as approved by the Service

Current Driver's Licence
