North West Renal Satellite Unit – Burnie, Tasmania

The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse to join the North West Renal Satellite Unit in Burnie as a Clinical Nurse Consultant – Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

This advanced practice role provides clinical leadership, patient education, and care coordination for patients living with Chronic Kidney Disease across the continuum of renal care. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary renal team, the CNC – CKD plays a key role in supporting patients and families through education, dialysis preparation, vascular access coordination, and ongoing management of chronic kidney disease.

The successful applicant will utilise advanced clinical knowledge and leadership skills to improve patient outcomes, support evidence-based practice, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within a specialised renal service.

The Role:

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver nurse-led education and support for CKD patients and families
  • Coordinate pathways for dialysis access and renal replacement therapies
  • Provide clinical leadership and expert renal nursing advice
  • Support continuity of care across haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and transplantation pathways
  • Contribute to quality improvement, research, and evidence-based practice initiatives
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team

  • Significant renal nursing experience and advanced clinical knowledge

Details of appointment

Permanent part time, day worker (with on call) position, working up to 38 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as you can join us.

Salary

$118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse with Renal experience.

  • Holds or is working towards relevant post graduate qualifications in renal nursing.
