The Business Analyst
Assists with the development and allocation of budgets, provides advice and assistance to senior management through the budget cycle and monitors and reports on financial performance throughout the financial year.
Supports the senior members of the Business Team to identify improvements in resource management including investigation, analysis and monitoring of strategies for improving budget control and achieving budget outcomes.
Provides advice, analysis and researches in relation to budget, financial management and financial reporting processes of the Agency.
- Prepare financial reports including monthly reports, end of year forecasts and Commonwealth funding acquittals on an accrual and cash basis, for a range of users.
- Prepare performance reports incorporating human resource, service activity and financial information. Advise clients on appropriate actions to take to achieve targets and provide support to implement.
- Undertake in depth analysis of business unit and cost centre performance, identifying key issues, trends and variances. Provide advice and make recommendations to the Manager – Business Support to implement agreed strategies.
- Assist and support cost centre managers in relation to budget and reporting processes by conducting training and supporting decision making with a view to increasing financial literacy, independence and accountability.
The Role
In this position you will support the monitoring, oversight and understanding of the business for Hospitals NW portfolios of Mersey Community and North West Regional hospitals through the application of your financial and non-financial skills and experience to a variety of different services managers, tasks, responsibilities and projects. The position plays an important role in supporting the work of more senior Business Team members and Service Managers. As such, it also has a strong focus on the development of new knowledge and skills in a supportive environment.

You will need
- Demonstrated understanding of business systems, accrual and cash accounting concepts and accounting
procedures with experience in applying this understanding within business operational environments. - Demonstrated experience in research, investigation and analytical skills with an ability to clearly articulate
the results and recommend actions to make improvements. - Demonstrated high level attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality.

Details of appointment
Multiple permanent full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary
$102,027 to $106,985 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.
