Job description:
The redevelopment of Macquarie Point is an urban renewal project in central Hobart, which will see a former industrial site revitalised into an exciting mixed-use precinct incorporating a multipurpose stadium.
This role reports to the Executive Director, Finance.
As a member of the team, the occupant has an important role to contribute to a safe, supportive and delivery-focused culture.
Macquarie Point is one of Tasmania’s most significant urban renewal precincts — a once‑in‑a‑generation opportunity to shape a vibrant, world‑class destination on the Hobart waterfront. With the Mac Point Multipurpose Stadium as a catalyst project, the site is entering an exciting phase of complex planning, development and transformation.
We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Manager to play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of strategic projects that will define the future of this landmark precinct.
About the Role
As a member of the Corporation, you will support the planning, development and delivery of complex, high‑profile projects that contribute to the long‑term vision for Macquarie Point. This is a rare opportunity to influence major urban outcomes, navigate multi‑stakeholder environments and make a genuine impact on Tasmania’s future.
You will:
- Provide financial support across all phases of project development, master planning processes and commercial strategies from concept to delivery.
- Lead day-to-day engagement with Department of State Growth’s finance team, ensuring collaborative and effective partnerships.
- Develop and maintain Corporation’s budget, financial and accounting systems, providing effective reporting and advice to Corporations Board and Executive.
- Ensure Corporation complies with current legislative requirements for public sector financial management and Australian accounting standards.
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for someone with:
- Highly developed experience in Budget and Financial management, particularly in a commercial environment across complex public, private or precinct development projects.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills with the proven ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities including management of financial, human and physical resources.
- The ability to analyse complex financial and budget management issues in a changing, politically aware environment and provide strategic recommendations to Executives.
- Knowledge of — or the ability to quickly acquire — Public entity financing and reporting requirements, with a focus on accuracy of information.
- Formal accounting qualifications and experience (desirable).
