Duties
Provide assistance and be a conduit of contact and intervention with specialist support services to emergency service workers (including volunteers), employees and their families experiencing difficulty caused by events such as bereavement, injury, illness or hospitalisation, long term sick leave, personal or relationship issues, transition to retirement / resignation or workplace issues.
The client base comprises staff (including volunteers) from Ambulance Tasmania, Forensic Science Service Tasmania, the State Emergency Service, the Tasmania Fire Service, Tasmania Police and DPFEM State Service employees.
- Provide a point of contact and support for emergency service workers (including volunteers) and employees experiencing levels of distress or difficulty.
- Provide support and facilitate access to appropriate psychological and other specialist support services for emergency service workers (including volunteers) and employees.
- Provide a point of contact and support for family members experiencing levels of distress, difficulty or relationship issues attributed to emergency service work.
- Provide support and facilitate access to appropriate psychological and other specialist support services to family members as appropriate.
- In consultation with managers, employees and other relevant stakeholders coordinate and deliver wellbeing responses to specific matters. As part of the Wellbeing Support team, coordinate and deliver wellbeing responses to emergency incidents.
- Raise awareness of wellbeing services available to all staff, promote and deliver healthy lifestyle and awareness campaigns or programs that aim to build resilience, self-management, and positive mental health in the workforce.
Essential Requirements
- A current driver’s licence.

The Head of the State Service has determined that a person nominated for appointment to this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment. - False alarm raising.
Desirable Requirements
Applicants who have completed Mental Health First Aid Training, Connecting with People or other mental health/wellbeing training will be viewed favourably.
