Job description:

Assist the High Soil Carbon Landscapes Project soil sample processing activities within the soil preparation facility at the Prospect Offices in Launceston.

About the role

This role supports soil sample preparation and processing activities for the High Soil Carbon Landscapes Project, working within the soil preparation facility in Prospect, Launceston. The role involves operating laboratory and field equipment, managing sample records and assisting with field work that may take place in remote areas on rough terrain.

About you

  • Have experience working in a laboratory or technical environment or have the ability to quickly learn soil sample preparation and processing techniques.
  • Are confident using machinery, equipment and basic computer software.
  • Enjoy hands‑on, practical work and have good attention to detail.
  • Can work safely and effectively both in the lab and in the field.
  • Are physically capable of operating soil sampling equipment and undertaking fieldwork sometimes in remote or challenging locations.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).

Period of appointment

Until 30 June 2028.

Desirable requirements

  • A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
  • Workplace First Aid HLTAID009-11 Certificate or equivalent.
