Job description:

The Senior Intelligence Analyst – with a focus on financial analysis – will provide specialist advice to support Tasmania Police’s criminal and proceeds of crime investigations. The role contributes to the detection, disruption and prosecution of financially motivated crime and assists in removing the profit from criminal activity. This includes engagement with high-profile investigations, providing technical financial expertise, and supporting litigation and court proceedings. Senior Intelligence Analysts are a critical component within the analytics team whose objective is achieving and delivering strong outcomes in matters that are sensitive and can be complex, fast paced and dynamic.

Duties

The Senior Intelligence Analyst – with a focus on financial analysis – will provide specialist advice to support Tasmania Police’s criminal and proceeds of crime investigations. Essential Requirements

Pre-Employment Checks 

The Head of the State Service has determined that a person nominated for appointment to this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment. Such offences would include, but are not limited to:

  • Arson and fire setting;
  • Sexual offences;
  • Dishonesty (e.g. theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud);
  • Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception);
  • Making false declarations;
  • Violent crimes and crimes against the person;
  • Malicious damage and destruction to property
  • Trafficking of narcotic substance;
  • False alarm raising. 

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience in proceeds of crime matters or within a criminal assets taskforce.
  • Experience working within a law enforcement or intelligence agency.
  • Completion of a relevant tertiary degree.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation including proceeds of crime, financial reporting and anti-money laundering laws.
