Job description:

The Corporate Services Business Unit of the Public Trustee provides services to the organisation in the areas of strategy development and monitoring, finance, corporate reporting, people and culture, payroll, investments, taxation services, procurement, information technology and records management. The Business Unit also provides secretarial services to the Board and Investment Committee. This position contributes to the efficient and effective operation of the Investments, Insurance & Taxation Team by providing a range of specialised accounting and tax functions relating to corporate, funds and clients’ financial administration.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Major Functions

  1. Facilitating the client tax accounting program ensuring the required deadlines for lodgement of corporate and client tax returns are met.
  2. Facilitate the administration and monitoring of the Public Trustee’s Client Tax Program including:
    • Client tax on-boarding and preparation of Individual Tax Returns for the Public Trustee’s clients, as required.
    • Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to monitor & resolve client tax matters.
    • Managing all incoming client tax correspondence.
    • Assisting with reconciliation of the Public Trustee’s tax reporting and associated accounts.
    • Processing regular client transactions as required, e.g., payment of outstanding client tax debts to the ATO, and processing client payments.
  3. Assist in the preparation of the Public Trustee’s yearly Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) calculations in conjunction with the Tax Consultant.
  4. Support the Investments, Insurance and Taxation team’s investment and insurance functions, including cover for staff leave.
  5. Contribute to the overall efforts and performance of the Corporate Services business unit by providing support to other positions within the Investments, Insurance & Taxation team and undertaking additional duties as directed, commensurate with the level of responsibility and accountability of the role.

  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment.
  3. Identification check.

Desirable Requirements

Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Accountancy or equivalent.
