Details of Appointment
Fixed-term (commencing asap until 3 May 2026). This is a day work position working 73.50 hours per fortnight.

Benefits
Salary of $74,783 to $80,835 pa. Starting salary negotiable within range subject to experience in a similar role. Annual salary increases within this range in accordance with the Tasmanian State Service Award and Public Service Union Wages Agreement

Working Environment
Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. This position is based at Risdon Vale in the Risdon Prison Complex. The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time).
Duties
- Coordinate the day-to-day workflow of administrative staff across various prison sites, and provide training for administrative staff, both initial and ongoing.
- Perform various administrative functions in the Risdon Prison Complex (RPC) including providing high level administrative and executive support to the General Manager, drafting correspondence, screening of visitor applications, management of electronic diaries and filing of documentation.
- Undertake financial tasks including receipting of monies, processing of prisoner requests and financial transactions, together with the reconciliation and banking of monies.
- Provide support to Superintendents in the drafting and preparation of correspondence and management of complaints, as well as coordinating the workflow, delegation and prioritisation of incoming correspondence to the General Manager, including responding on behalf of the General Manager.
- Process mail, incoming and outgoing, in accordance with organisation policy and procedures, along with processing Unity telephone requests.
- Coordinating internal complaints submitted by inmates, including drafting of correspondence.
- Occasionally collate high level statistical and business reports that accurately represent the operational and human resource performance standards of the Risdon Prison Complex and maintain databases and spreadsheets to assist with reporting processes.
- The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying jobs at this classification level.
