Job description:

Responsible for the provision of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) technical and project support to the Department for the development, configuration, commissioning, testing, fault analysis, systems operations, whole of life management and maintenance of ITS systems and associated devices such as on-road traveller information electronic signs, variable speed limit signs, CCTV cameras and travel time system as these innovative solutions are increasingly utilised to manage the performance of our road network across Tasmania and better inform road users of road conditions.

Duties

• Configure, optimise and maintain ITS devices and supporting systems on the Tasmanian road network.
• Integrate, test and commission ITS devices, communication networks, and operating systems autonomously and collaboratively with other departmental business units and external contractors.
• Research, interpret and adapt the Departmental ITS Strategic Plan, Austroads manuals, ITS standards and specifications to scope, develop and prepare documentation for ITS projects, both standalone and broader Departmental projects, and provide technical expert advice to stakeholders.
• Prepare reports, review and update technical records, including specifications, electrical / electronic drawings, network topologies and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) data.
• Provide coordination and supervision of staff and contractors in relation to complex ITS matters.
• Develop and maintain ITS asset information, monitor performance of existing assets and identify aging assets for replacement.
• Provide technical support to Traffic Operations, Traffic Signal Maintenance staff and contractors for all ITS devices and related systems.
• Ensure a high standard of work and quality is maintained through the service delivery program and is compliant with regulations, codes and specifications.
• Retrieve and process traffic data captured by traffic counters using various proprietary software to server locations.

Desirable Requirements

• Advanced / Diploma in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
• A technical qualification in electrical, electronic, or networking communications or IT qualification ideally related to ITS
• Full or restricted electrical licence
• Demonstrated work experience related to ITS or similar technical industries
• Current Drivers Licence
