This role will have autonomy to create, lead and implement the overarching technology roadmap, including marketing technology stack and AI advancements as well as oversee the enterprise system roadmap with support of the wider government structure.

What you'll be responsible for
Responsible for the overall direction of the Tourism Tasmania technology strategy, the Chief Technology Officer will ensure we are utilising the right systems and tools to operate effectively and efficiently to deliver on our strategic goals. You will provide technical leadership across the organisation and manage the relationship with our key technology partners with a focus on positive user experience, security and innovation.
What you'll work on
- Define and implement Tourism Tasmania’s technology strategy and roadmap.
- Oversee technology architecture of Tourism Tasmania to ensure right fit for the organisation and team members to maximise efficiencies.
- Lead system planning, deployment, and optimisation to ensure security, scalability, and alignment with organisational goals.
- Keep abreast of and implement emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) opportunities to help team members perform to the best of their abilities with the support of technology.
- Evaluate and implement, where needed, technologies to enhance efficiency, streamline operations and deliver improvement in operational performance meeting changing business requirements.
- Negotiate strong contracts and manage supporting agency relationships to benefit Tourism Tasmania.
- Facilitate change management and upskilling to ensure smooth adoption of new technologies, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Drive continuous process optimisation using digital technologies and enterprise systems to create new, or evolve existing, business processes.
- Lead data-driven innovation to drive informed decision-making to support marketing, industry engagement, and operational functions.
- Establish and oversee data governance and information management structures and capabilities to deliver projects and initiatives, prioritising digital transformation and operational efficiency.
- Oversee Data Lakehouse and other tech systems and solutions.
- Work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), the Head of Digital and Interactive Marketing and other marketing leaders to ensure management and training support of the martech stack to enable the marketing team to perform in their roles and deliver effective marketing strategy and tactics.
- Work closely with our other government agencies in the support of our enterprise systems and cyber security.
