Job description:

The position contributes to the delivery of a family violence intervention program and intensive case management for people on remand or serving short sentences for family violence offences within Tasmania Prison Service.

The Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has an exciting opportunity for the right person, to contributes to the delivery of a family violence intervention program and intensive case management within Tasmania Prison Service. This role is newly funded to support the Tasmania Prison Service fill the gap in family interventions for people on remand or serving short sentences for family violence offences.

Details of Appointment

Fixed-term for a period of three years from the date of appointment.

This is a day work position working 73.50 hours per fortnight. Flexible working arrangements may be considered.

Benefits

Salary of $83,011 – $95,547 pa. Starting salary negotiable within range subject to experience in a similar role. Annual salary increase within this range in accordance with the Tasmanian State Service Award and Public Service Union Wages Agreement.

Working Environment

Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. This position is based at Risdon Vale. 

The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time). 

Duties

  • Co-facilitate the delivery of individual and group–based rehabilitation or intervention programs to family violence offenders/detainees.
  • Provide Case Management to appropriately meet the needs of people who are either held on remand for family violence offences or serving short sentences for family violence offences (‘clients’), developing comprehensive sentence plans and make referrals and or recommendations in line with individual plans.
  • Maintain offender case notes, records and administrative information and prepare formal assessments and other reports in accordance with program standards.
  • Liaise with other Integration and Rehabilitation Services staff and correctional case managers about prisoner/detainee case management.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development including training, clinical supervision and the reviewing and debriefing of case load and program sessions.

Desirable Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of an appropriate course of study at a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Current Driver’s Licence.
