Job description:

The Court Support and Liaison Service (CSLS), established as part of the Safe at Home program, supports victims of family violence throughout the Magistrates Court process by providing guidance, information, support, and assistance. CSLS is split into two regions: South (Hobart) and North and Northwest (Launceston, Devonport, and Burnie). Each region is managed by a Team Leader.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • Manage one of the CSLS regions to assist victims of family violence in family violence proceedings by cooperating with other Team Leaders and leading your region to develop consistency statewide in:
    • explaining court processes and terminology;
    • describing physical orientation of court layouts;
    • providing information about court systems;
    • offering personal / emotional support throughout the court process;
    • accompanying victims to court and to police interviews;
    • when appropriate, assisting in the preparation of victim impact statements;
    • discussing the impact of the court’s decision;
    • debriefing victims following court appearances;
    • referring victims to appropriate support services and providing victims’ information to those services; and
    • assisting with practical information about getting to court.
  • Manage human, financial, information, and other resources within CSLS.
  • Liaise and develop and manage relationships with stakeholders in the criminal justice system and community-based organisations, including the Magistrates Court, Police Prosecution, the Safe at Home Coordination Unit, the Family Violence Support Service, the Community Corrections, Child Safety Services, Tasmania Legal Aid, the Women’s Legal Service, and the Tasmanian Aboriginal Legal Service.
  • Participate as a member of the Safe at Home interdepartmental case coordination team.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of services, including by seeking feedback and developing, reviewing, and implementing policies, procedures, programs, and other materials relating to CSLS.
