The position
This is an exciting opportunity to undertake high level legal research, statutory interpretation and legal advisory services in relation to the Department’s governance, risk and compliance activities. You will also coordinate the Department’s statutory responsibilities under the Right to Information Act 2009 and support the Department to meet other statutory responsibilities, including under the Personal Information Protection Act 2004 and the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2002.
You will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in interpreting legislation and working with legal and legislative structures and processes, particularly in relation to providing advice on governance, risk and compliance matters (or the capacity to quickly acquire such knowledge). You will also have strong investigative, research and analytical skills and the ability to provide clear advice and apply sound judgement to complex and ambiguous problems. You will demonstrate leadership and initiative to manage your own output and work effectively in a team environment. You will also have the ability to influence and resolve issues to achieve results. You will be able to provide examples that demonstrate your high-level interpersonal communication skills, as well as your ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Highly Desirable Requirements
Completion or partial completion of relevant tertiary or industry qualifications, and/or professional affiliation.
