Job description:

Provide strategic asset management leadership and advice in relation to the sustainable management of road, bridge, property and traffic signal assets within State Roads Division. The position will oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of the State Road and Bridge Emergency Management Plan and Tasmanian Government’s State Road Infrastructure Asset Management Policy.

Duties

  • Lead the implementation of the State Roads Infrastructure Asset Management Policy throughout the State Roads Division, and relevant areas of the Transport and Infrastructure Group.
  • Coordinate ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of the State Roads Division’s asset management system and processes to ensure that system maturity is improving relative to ISO 55000 and the International Infrastructure Management Manual (IIMM).
  • Lead the reviews and implementation of the State Road and Bridge Emergency Management Plan.
  • Develop and regularly review the Strategic Asset Management Plan including providing direction to the Manager Road Assets, Manager Bridge Assets, Manager Traffic Signals Maintenance and Manager Property Assets with the development, maintenance and improvement of their respective asset management plans.
  • Lead the asset management contribution to the Department’s sustainability and climate change strategies and policies. Provide advice on incorporating sustainability and climate risk into asset management plans, including resilience to natural disasters and adverse weather impacts.
  • Coordinate risk management within State Roads Division in relation to risks with the potential to adversely affect operation of the asset management system, lifecycle planning, asset planning, renewal/upgrade planning, asset disposal and financial management.
  • Represent State Roads Division and the Department as required on State and national bodies relevant to sustainable asset and emergency management, including Regional Emergency Management Committees, Austroads and other intergovernmental forums.
  • Coordinate State Roads emergency response in accordance with the State Road and Bridge Emergency Management Plan and relevant state level plans and legislation.
  • Effectively manage to achieve specified outcomes, including physical and financial resources, consultants and contractors.

Essential Requirements

Evidence of the following must be provided prior to appointment to this role:

  • A current drivers licence.

The person must continue to satisfy the above essential requirements/qualifications throughout their employment in this role.

Desirable Requirements

  • Completion of infrastructure asset management training from a nationally recognised training provider.
  • Completion of Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System (AIIMS) training.
